How to Take The Proper Golf Setup

This is the proper golf setup routine, and it is the best I have ever come across in 5 years of golf swing research…

OK, here we go. This is something that I was shown by a Professional Golfer. I have never seen this before in any golfing magazine, web site, golf show etc.

This is a setup routine to get you in exactly the right position and distance from the ball every time with every club.

I have checked this proper golf setup routine with the setup of some of the world’s top Pro golfers and it is bang on. I have really benefited from this setup routine.

So how does it work I can hear you asking. Well it’s rather simple, which is why I’m surprised I’ve not seen it before.

Do you already have a proper golf setup routine?

Well, this is not any routine, it is one that gets you in exactly the same position as a golf pro. This routine is simple and accurate.

It is all related to the length of the club you are about to use to hit the ball with.

The main benefit from this proper golf setup is that by setting yourself up right to the ball it will give you plenty of room to work in between you and the ball, rather than getting all cramped up at impact.

Proper Golf Setup Instructions

This proper golf setup routine should ONLY be used on the practice range, I don’t want you getting disqualified from some big competition!

Any significant change should be practiced – you should never make big changes to your golf swing during a round.

Work it all out on the practice range, check it works, then implement it. Only implement this setup on the course once you can get the right distance from the ball without laying your club on the ground.

Choose the club you plan to hit the ball with – I would recommend that your start to try this setup routine with a 7 iron.

The following instructions are for a 9 iron right through to your long irons:

Lay the club down on the ground pointing away from your body, that’s from your body when setup alongside the ball in your normal stance, towards the ball.

Now move the clubhead (which should be closest to the ball, away from your body) so that it is on the other side of the ball.

So as you look down to the ground you will see the club shaft running away from you with the club head wrapped around the other side of the ball.

Now move yourself to the ball and put one finger width space between the ball and the clubhead as it is laid on the ground.

Now move back to the butt end of the shaft.

Now take up your stance but this time line up the back of your heels with the butt end of the club.

This now sets your feet the correct distance from the ball.

All you need to do now is keep you feet on the line you’ve set them and pick your club up and address the ball.

WARNING: This proper golf setup gives you the correct amount of bend at your knees. To get yourself balanced you will need to push your bum out behind you, remembering to keep your back straight and bend more over the ball.

WARNING: The first time you do this you may think you are way too far away from the ball. I have checked this setup and it is absolutely correct and matches the setup of the worlds top pro’s.

WARNING: You may find it easier to change your golf setup in small steps rather than go straight to this setup – if the ball feels way too far away from you then gradually increase the distance over a few rounds.

You need to practice the proper golf setup as described above until you can do it without laying you club down on the floor.

How Do You Determine Your Golf Grip Pressure

Determining Ideal Golf Grip Pressure…

How do you determine how much grip pressure to apply?

Some teachers recommend gripping the club as if you were holding a small bird in the palms of your hands. Since few people have actually done that, that scenario might not work for everyone.

Here`s another approach to determining the ideal grip pressure.

Below are 6 steps to finding the ideal grip pressure:

* Check your grip first
* Raise the club vertically
* Let it slide down
* Firm up your grip
* Lower your club horizontally
* Place it behind the ball

Maintaining just enough grip pressure throughout your swing helps you swing smoothly and rhythmically.

Check your grip before you address the ball to determine if you are holding the club correctly. Now, raise the club vertically. When the club`s vertical, release grip pressure until the club slides down through your fingers. That`s obviously too little pressure. But it`s a starting point.

Next, grip the club and raise it vertically again. This time apply just enough pressure to prevent the club from sliding through your fingers, but no more. Now, lower the club horizontally. This move increases grip pressure to the level you should use when swinging the club. Finally, lower the club to the ground. Your grip tightens naturally as you lower the club. And you should feel most of the pressure in the last three fingers of your bottom hand, especially the little finger.

That`s your ideal grip pressure. Try maintaining this pressure during your swing.

Apply too little grip pressure and you lose your grip and maybe the club. But strangling the club is just as bad. It prevents your hands and wrists from doing their jobs. It also causes you to tense you arms and body, destroying your swings rhythm. Use the technique above to determine your ideal grip press and you?ll find yourself with a more fluid, more rhythmic swing.

Ask players who have a low golf handicap and they’ll all tell you that learning to play golf, well, is difficult.

In fact, it’s one of the most difficult sports to learn. While taking golf lessons and reading golf tips help, nothing works better than practice.

Beginners must practice as much as they can, if they’re serious about learning the game.

Seven Golf Tips For Beginners

1. Use A Mirror For Mechanics

Beginners must master their mechanics to cut strokes from their golf handicaps. Using a mirror to check the basics helps. Are you setting up correctly? Are you taking the club back low and slow? Working in front of a mirror is especially effective for ingraining key moves, like keeping the clubface on target longer. The mirror lets you see yourself executing the move as you do it. That’s great feedback.

2. Use Targets in Practice

Beginners must practice with a purpose, if they want to speed the process. While we all enjoy aimlessly hitting balls on the range, beginners who make practice session more realistic improve faster. Put yourself in practical situations when at the range and aim for specific targets when hitting. You’ll engage not only your body but your mind as well. In short, don’t just hit balls. Aim for a target. It’s the best way to practice.

3. Grip Down For Added Control

All golfers should grip down on their clubs about an inch. It provides better control. Beginners should grip down even further—especially when hitting half shots or three-quarter shots. Learn to hit these shots by adjusting the backswing not the downswing, as many people do. Gripping down helps golfers control ball trajectory and distance as well—two keys to hitting good approach shots.

4. Employ Visualization When Practicing

Visualization triggers good shots. The more clearly you see a shot in your mind’s eye, the better your chances of making it. Visualization also helps ingrain good technique or eliminates swing faults. For example, beginners often want to come out of their shots too quickly. However, you need to get down and stay down through out the shot. One way to ingrain this is to imagine a scoop of ice cream on the ground. Then picture yourself hitting down and through the cone, creating a descending blow and solid impact.

5. Set Up Square On Putts

Beginners should work especially hard on putting. For most new players, it’s a hard skill to acquire. Good putting starts by making sure your putterface is square on putts. If it’s not, you’ll miss every time. Use a small square mirror to learn to square the putterface. Draw a straight line on the surface that’s parallel to the front the mirror’s edge. Then place it on the ground and use the line as an alignment aid. Since you can see yourself in the mirror, it’s is also a good way to monitor head movement and prevent too much during the stroke.

6. Track Breaking Lag Putts

Good lag putting saves strokes. But the hardest putts learn to lag are big breaking putts. Therefore, beginners must learn to lag big breaking putts to improve their putting. They also need to work on putts with subtle breaks. Here’s a simple drill for doing that: Position a row of tees slightly outside the line of a breaking putt and practice rolling the ball along the line of tees and into the cup.

7. Work On Both Games

Beginners often measure progress by their ball striking capabilities. So they go to the range and hit balls as often as they can. Learning to hit the ball well is essential to improving as a golfer. But you also need to improve your short game. Beginners should work on the short game as hard as they work on the long game. In fact, they should work on it harder. A good short game saves tons of strokes.

If you’re a beginner, use these seven golf tips for beginners tips to make practice more realistic. It takes a lot of patience and practice to learn to play golf well. So take golf lessons and read golf tips. And talk with more experienced players. You can often glean tips from them that will help your game. With time and patience, you can become a great player, one with a golf handicap that’s something to brag about.

Here’s A Simple Drill To Reduce Golf Swing Tension (so you hit the ball further!

Does this sound like you?… You feel a lot of tension in your golf swing and you try to tell yourself to relax but the harder you try to do this the more tense you become.

If this does sounds like you the first piece of advice is to not “try.” Why?

Because trying creates tension in your golf swing so cut that “trying” out first because it’s costing you distance and accuracy.

Next you should go out to your driving range and simply hit balls while humming quietly to yourself. When you’re doing this focus on your humming and notice if it stops or changes pitch at any time during your golf swing.

Just keep hitting balls focusing on your humming with the goal of swinging without the hum changing pitch or volume from the moment you start swinging to the end of your golf swing. But please don’t “try” to achieve this.

Simply keep swinging and focusing on your humming, and soon without you noticing the “whys” or “hows” your golf swing will become more rhythmical and less tense. Once your golf swing is more in tune with your natural rhythm you want to keep it that way. Do this by having a few golf swings each day while quietly humming to yourself.

Doing this will help you to have a golf swing with less tension and consequently you’ll hit the ball further and more consistently.

Golf Swing Basics-Learn To Hit A Fade

Here is a golf tip, that will help you play golf holes that dogleg to the right, with pin positions on the right hand side of the green and with other circumstance where it dictates that you move the golf ball to the right.

You are going to find yourself in many circumstances, during your golf round, where you best chance for success is to hit a fade. By hitting a fade, you will be able to help take trouble (water, bunkers, out of bounds etc) out of play or at least reduce the risk involved.

This golf tip will give you more control. You won`t get as much distance, unless you are riding the wind with your fade, but it allow you more control when control is more important than distance. Also, understanding how to hit a controlled fade might just help you with your slice!

Learn To Hit A Fade

1. Open Your Feet Position

In your normal golf set up, you would want to have your feet positioned parallel to your target line. Well, in setting up to hit a fade, your feet want to be pointed to the left (if you are right handed) with your right foot in front of your left foot.

2. Open Your Shoulders Position

You want to align your shoulders parallel to your open feet position. This open shoulder position will promote an outside in swing needed for a draw.

3. Aim To The Left Of Your Intended Target

Your golf ball is going to move right (if you are right handed) so you must aim left of the intended target to get the desired results.

4. Open The Club Face

When you are making contact with the golf ball you want to impart a slice spin on the golf ball and this is helped along by having an open club face. You will have to use the practice range to determine how much you want to have your club face open. Obviously, the more you open the clubface the more the golf ball will fade or slice.

5. Make Sure You Have A Weak Grip

A weak golf grip is when the Vs on your right and left hand are pointing toward the center of your body. In general, you want your hands to be positioned to prevent roll your right forearm to roll over your left when completing your golf swing. In short, you want to keep the club face open through impact.

6. Swing Along The Plane Of Your Open Set Up

OK, your feet and shoulders are pointing left. So, we want to complete our golf swing along that same plane. This set up position promotes an outside in golf swing which in turn promotes the fade.

7. Do Not Let The Clubhead Release

Everything is all set up for you, you are positioned to the right, you have a weak grip, you have the right swing plane. Now, what you need to remember to do is not to release the clubhead.
